An exciting and safe love relationship in which you feel "known" is what most of us want. It's what most of think we're getting when we make a commitment.

The desire to love and be loved runs deep inside and is so common, yet, why do so many relationships run into trouble? The short answer is that while intimate relationships elicit powerful and loving emotions, they also excite difficult feelings - fear, anger, jealousy and hurt. It's usually easy to see what your partner is doing wrong. Most of us need help focusing on what goes on between and within ourselves. Emotionally Focused Therapy gives us a way to do this.

Most couples can get caught in negative patterns, a "dance" where they repeat the same steps and missteps, often outside their awareness. This dance can be painful, as they continue to step on each other's toes, hurting each other's hearts, and confusing each other's brains. I work with couples to help them become more aware and connected to what is going on within and between them, so they can learn a new kind of dance - one in which they move together in synchrony, feeling connected and safe with the other.

I have been a psychotherapist for over 20 years, working with couples and individuals ages 17 and older. My hope for all my clients is that in our work together they will develop greater awareness of who they are, what they want, and how they can achieve their goals.

Please feel free to give me a call and we can discuss how I may be of service to you.
