It's not unusual for couples to get stuck in painful cycles of disconnection -- that feeling you are getting into the same fight without ever resolving the underlying conflict. Using Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), a highly effective, evidence-based couples therapy, I help you identify the reactive patterns that result in high levels of distress. Once we discern your cycle, we work to build safety and strength in the relationship so that you can access and share your emotions and needs with one another. I have a deep respect for the resilience it takes to enter therapy, and I believe the process is an opportunity for change -- a chance to develop a deeper and more meaningful connection.
In addition to practicing EFT with couples, I am certified in Discernment Counseling. I also work with individual adults coping with relationship issues, depression, anxiety, trauma, mood disorders, grief, and loss. I use an integrative and collaborative therapeutic approach grounded in attachment and psychodynamic theories.
I began my career in the late 1990s as a reporter. After taking time off to start a family, I returned to school to pursue a career in providing therapy, and received a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Rutgers University. I currently work in a hybrid (virtual and in-person) private practice with clients from a variety of cultural, ethnic, and economic backgrounds. I believe in the importance of understanding culture, family systems, and societal influences; my perspective was shaped by living in East Africa (Tanzania) for several years, as well as traveling globally.
